THE PICTON FORESHORE
This is a special place to spend some time during your visit to Picton. Step through the War Memorial and enjoy the picture postcard view of the Sounds framed by lovely palm trees – a great picnic spot. Activities include: children’s playground, sail boats, model train rides and a merry-go-round.
There is a safe swimming beach, on the foreshore, at Shelly beach, Bob's Bay and Waikawa Bay. Also the Town swimming pole at Queen Charlotte College is open to the public during the summer school holidays.
ECOWORLD AQUARIUM AND SEAHORSE WORLD
At Ecoworld you can explore the hidden world of the Marlborough Sounds with hundreds of fish and invertebrates. Ancient tuatara, bright geckos and slinky skinks can be found within our reptile display and if you are really quiet you may even discover the Giant Weta ("god of the ugly things") sleeping in their burrows.

SKATE BOARD PARK
Across the road from the Broadway Motel there is a large new skate Board Park with lots of ramps and jumps. Skate boards are available from the motel on request.
WAIKAWA BAY AND MARINA
Hire a kayak or go for a swim in Waikawa Bay. Ideal playground for children with a fantastic view of the Queen Charlotte Sound. Wander around the Marina and enjoy a whitebait sandwich (depending on the season) at the waterfront cafe & bar, the Jolly Roger or have breakfast, sumptuous lunch or dinner at the newly opened Spinnaker Restaurant & Conference Centre.
